Cutting Edge Regenerative Dentistry

``Think of it as using a patient's own Stem Cells to create living bone and tissue.`` (Dr. Steven C. Chang DDS)

This modern miracle allows Dr. Chang to use a patient’s own cells to grow new bone instead of requiring grafts with bone harvested from elsewhere, commercial bone grafting material or synthetic materials. By centrifuging blood at a precise angle and speed, it separates into layers, including a PRF containing clot. The PRF is applied to the site during oral surgery, Hyper-Stimulating the body’s natural healing process and generating additional bone mass where desired. PRF can be used in sinus lifts and bone grafts for dental implant patients

This in-office bioengineering of new bone and soft tissue is truly cutting-edge dental surgery science.

Dr. Chang Explains and answers questions about PRF or Platelet Rich Fibrin.

PRF is most commonly used in implant procedures when the amount of bone currently present is insufficient.

The Growth Factors from the patient’s own blood attract stem cells to the site to actually form new bone.

Think of it as an In-Office StemCell Treatment!

What is Platelet Rich Fibrin Treatment?

After Dr. Chang makes an assessment of your individual case and determines whether you are a good candidate for PRF treatment, a small amount of your blood will be taken and placed in a centrifuge. The centrifuge spins the blood and separates the plasma, white blood cells and fibrin from the red cells, concentrating them. These elements of your blood are responsible for accelerated healing and tissue regeneration and growth. When the mixture is applied to an open wound, such as the one caused by a tooth extraction or other type of dental surgery, the growth factors in the PRF stimulate stem cells to grow new tissue very quickly and speed up your healing. Think of it as an In-Office Stem Cell Treatment for growing bone and gum tissue in your mouth!

IT HAS OFTEN BEEN SAID, THE BEST DENTAL Repair MATERIAL OF ALL IS THE NATURAL TOOTH. THERE’S SIMPLY NOTHING BETTER.

The same can now be said of Bone and Gums. Repairing your jawbone with your own bone or repairing your gums with your own gum tissue is also true. However when decay or damage means a tooth must be repaired or replaced, then the next best material is one that’s biocompatible with the human body, whether the tooth or crown is of composite, ceramic, gold or platinum material .

When surgery is required, a 100% biocompatible option for stimulating and speeding up healing and greatly reducing post-op pain and discomfort, look no further than platelet rich fibrin (PRF).  Because PRF is made from your own blood, there are no artificial ingredients.  Its growth factors stimulate the stem cells to produce new host tissue in an amazingly short time.

By spinning your blood in a centrifuge for twelve minutes, a plug of protein – the fibrin – is created.  When added to your platelets, a natural source of growth factor, you have the perfect healing mechanism.  The membrane that’s formed also contains a high number of white blood cells (leukocytes) – the part of the blood with the most healing properties.  The fibrin plug can then be shaped to fill or cover the surgical site.  As a bonus, this also helps to manage the postoperative pain and to promote the soft tissue healing process, reducing the early adverse effects of inflammation. It can be even be safely mixed with bone grafting material:

  • to rebuild the bone following extractions and gum surgery
  • in bone repair from trauma
  • prior to implant placement if there is insufficient bone for the implant
